Broken Glasses Better Opportunities

For the 143 million U.S adults with prescription eyewear, a pair of broken glasses is an unavoidable practical and financial annoyance. Most glasses need replacement within three years due to natural wear and tear, costing an average of $173 each.

With this all said though, there is no better time than now to break a pair of glasses as countless new options are arising every year. While better known options such as scratch resistant lens coatings are becoming commonplace, other options are far less known.

The most prominent of these is simply the fact that breaking a pair of glasses no longer requires a new frame. There is instead the quicker and cheaper option of simply replacing the lenses of a pair of frames without replacing the entire pair.

This means as long as someone has a set of frames, they can put any prescription lenses inside. And the list of these lenses and their options are near limitless. From simple additions like bifocals and trifocals, to slightly more modern equivalents like progressive lenses, to new innovations like tinted lenses.

Although they sound like a gimmick, different colored tinted lenses can help with migraines, attention disorders, low-light vision issues, and general glare or strain. There’s also now anti-fog and blue light resistant lens coating.

Even the lenses themselves have the options of being polycarbonate, glass, or the usual plastic. These options certainly aren’t for everyone, and some are more pricey than everyone can afford, but for anyone finding problems with their glasses, there are now modern solutions. Especially if that problem is as simple as reusing an old set of frames.
